Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how InnerHue collects, uses, and protects information when you use the InnerHue application (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

• Account information. Your email address, used to authenticate your account through a one-time code or sign-in link.
• Journal content. The mood selection, tags, and text you enter when creating a journal entry.
• Generated content. The AI-generated reflection produced in response to each journal entry, stored alongside that entry.
• Natal chart data (optional). If you choose to use the natal chart feature, we collect the birth date, birth time (which you may leave blank), and birth city name you provide, along with the geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude) and IANA timezone derived from that city via a geocoding service. This data is stored in association with your account so that your chart is retained across devices. Providing this information is entirely optional; the rest of InnerHue functions without it.

We do not collect your real-time location or your name unless you choose to provide one, and we do not collect any information beyond what is listed above. The Service does not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics.

Because journal entries may reflect your emotional state and mental wellbeing, this information is treated as sensitive information under applicable privacy law, including the Australian Privacy Act 1988. We apply a higher standard of care to its collection, storage, and handling accordingly. Birth date and location information provided for the natal chart feature is similarly treated with care and is not shared beyond what is described in this policy.

2. How Journal Content Is Used

When you submit a journal entry with the AI reflection feature enabled, the entry's text, mood, and tags are transmitted to Anthropic, the provider of the underlying AI model, for the sole purpose of generating a reflection. Under Anthropic's commercial terms of service, this content is not used to train Anthropic's models and is automatically deleted from Anthropic's systems within thirty days of processing.

Your journal entries are never used to train any AI model, by InnerHue or any third party.

Your journal entries are stored in our database, provided by Supabase, so that your entry history and mood trends remain accessible to you across devices.

2a. How Natal Chart Data Is Used

If you provide birth information for the natal chart feature, that data is used exclusively to calculate and display your natal chart within the app. Planetary positions are computed server-side using standard astronomical algorithms; your birth data is not transmitted to any AI model and is not used to generate reflections or any other AI-produced content. Birth coordinates and timezone are derived on your behalf from the city name you enter via the geocoding services listed in Section 4. Your natal chart data is stored in our database and syncs across your authenticated devices.

3. Access to Your Information

Database access controls are configured so that other users of the Service cannot access your entries under any circumstance. Each account is restricted to its own data.

Administrators of the Service may access account data when necessary for technical support, troubleshooting, or maintenance of the Service. Administrators do not otherwise review journal entries, and information is not shared with any party except as described in this policy.

4. Third-Party Service Providers

The Service relies on the following third-party providers to operate:

• Anthropic. Generates AI reflections, as described in Section 2.
• Supabase. Provides database hosting and authentication services.
• Resend. Delivers transactional sign-in emails.
• Vercel. Hosts the application.
• Nominatim (OpenStreetMap). Provides geocoding — converting a city name to geographic coordinates — when you search for a birth city in the natal chart feature. Requests include the place name you typed and are subject to OpenStreetMap's usage policy.
• timeapi.io. Resolves the IANA timezone for a geographic coordinate when you save a natal chart, so that birth time can be accurately converted to UTC. Requests include the latitude and longitude of the city you selected.

5. Your Rights and Choices

You can delete individual journal entries directly within the application. You can also export a copy of your data from the History tab at any time. If you would like your account deleted or need any other assistance with your personal information, please contact us using the information below and we will process your request.

6. Data Security

All traffic to the Service is encrypted in transit using HTTPS. Access to the underlying database is governed by row-level security policies, and administrative access is limited to individuals responsible for maintaining the Service.

7. Eligibility

The Service is intended for use by individuals who are 18 years of age or older. The Service is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from individuals under 18. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will delete their account and associated data.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page.
